He got the fabulous idea to strengthen the trousers with metal rivets and the Levi’s jeans were a reality. He wanted to take out a patent but was short of money and went to Levi Strauss to help with the financial side and they became partners and then the business just kept growing and growing. The patent expired long time ago and everyone makes jeans with rivets now a days.
